BTL EMFACE – Pre-Treatment Instructions (Before)
- Arrive with a clean face. Do not wear makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or oils on the treatment area.
- Discontinue Retin-A, retinoids, exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), benzoyl peroxide, and abrasive skin regimens at least 2 weeks prior to treatment.
- Avoid injectables (toxins or fillers) in the treatment area unless cleared by your provider (typically:
- Toxins: wait at least 2 weeks.
- Fillers: wait 4 weeks or more, depending on type and placement).
- Avoid laser treatments, RF microneedling, chemical peels, or other energy-based facial procedures for at least 2–4 weeks prior, unless otherwise directed.
- Stay well hydrated the day of treatment.
- Inform your provider if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Have a pacemaker, defibrillator, metal implants in the face, or other implanted electronic devices.
- Have active skin infections, open wounds, or severe acne in the treatment area.
- Are taking any medications that cause sun sensitivity.
- Men may shave facial hair prior to treatment for optimal electrode contact.
BTL EMFACE – Post-Treatment Instructions (After)
- You may return to normal activities immediately following treatment.
- Mild muscle soreness, tingling, warmth, or tightness is normal and typically resolves within 24–48 hours.
- Makeup and skincare may be applied the same day unless otherwise instructed.
- Avoid Retin-A, retinoids, exfoliating acids, and abrasive skin products for 48–72 hours after treatment.
- Avoid facial massage, gua sha, or aggressive treatments for 24–48 hours.
- Stay hydrated and maintain a consistent skincare routine approved by your provider to support results and decrease the likelihood of side effects.
- Results build gradually; optimal outcomes are typically seen several weeks after completing the full treatment series.
- Contact the office if you experience unexpected pain, prolonged swelling, or skin irritation.
